Honeymoon Cystitis?
Sexual intimacy is one of the most common risk factors for cystitis (UTIs) in women. Cyscover® was invented to help. It is an ultra-thin, transparent film that covers the skin between the anus & vagina during sexual activity. Comfortable to wear & invisible for your partner, it helps prevent bacteria transfer.

Millions of women worldwide
In up to 90 % of cases E.coli intestinal bacteria are the trigger
Escherichia coli (E.coli) are a natural component of the intestinal microbiome and play an important role in gut health. However, if they enter urethra and bladder, they can cause pain and inflammation.
The
female
anatomy
doesn’t help us here. Urethra, vagina and anus are very close to each other so that intestinal and vaginal bacteria can enter the urethra easily. With a length of only 4 cm, the urethra is also significantly shorter than in men, meaning that bacteria can reach the bladder more quickly.
Risk factor Sex
Whatever your sexual preference, during intercourse, friction meets body fluids and intestinal bacteria can pass quickly from the anal region into the vagina or even the urethra. In addition, urethra and vagina are often irritated by friction, which makes it even easier for pathogens, such as E.coli, to invade.
Biofilm & urothelium
But wait, there’s more! Our bodies are complex. Once E.coli bacteria have entered the urethra, they can form a dense biofilm that makes the access for immune cells and antibiotics difficult. The bacteria can migrate to the lining of the urinary tract (urothelium), hide and persist there until they are released and the infection cycle begins again.
Gardnerella vagi-whaaat?
Gardnerella vaginalis is a germ that colonizes the vagina in many women. If it makes its way into the bladder, it attacks the top layer of the urothelium, causing „hidden“ E.coli bacteria to be released again. Thus, vaginal bacteria can cause a bladder infection to flare up indirectly.
ANTI
biotics
Second most common reason for antibiotic prescriptions? Bingo! Bladder infections. In Germany alone, there’s at least 6.3 million per year. However, new findings show that taking antibiotics is often counterproductive, because E.coli bacteria in biofilm and urothelium can survive antibiotics in significantly higher concentrations (up to 1,500 times higher). Thus, they are often not reached at all. Instead, antibiotics damage the uro- and intestinal microbiome, which is important for healthy immune function. Biofilm formation is promoted and antibiotic resistance continues to increase.
Welcome to the vicious circle!
So what’s
the deal
with

Let’s get physical.
How it work’s: Cyscover® is applied as an ultra-thin, transparent and highly flexible cover between the anus and vagina during sexual activity to stop the movement of underlying bacteria. The danger of E.coli spreading towards the vagina and urethra is drastically reduced in a simple, but effective way.

Stops
bacteria
The skin region of perineum and anus is simply covered during sex. This stops the movement of bacteria, and the danger of E.coli spreading towards the vagina and urethra is drastically reduced in a simple, but effective way.
Relieves the
bladder wall
If mucous membranes are irritated, they are more susceptible to invaders. With Cyscover®, additional stress due to the entry of further bacteria can be significantly minimized, thereby protecting the urethra and bladder.
Relieves the
psyche
Cyscover® allows you to enjoy the moment, worry- free and relaxed, so you can be present in the here and now. This is not only beneficial for intimacy, but also for your health, as stress is known to negatively impact the immune system.
Promotes body awareness
Understand causal relationships between common bacteria and bladder infections, break down taboos, and be empowered to take your health and wellbeing into your own hands.

FAQ
Cyscover® is an innovative and gentle protective cover designed to reduce the spread of your own bacteria during sex. Easily applied, it gently and temporarily covers your anus and perineum (the area of skin between the anus and vagina) to help prevent bacteria transfer.
Cyscover® is a purely physical barrier applied before sex, foreplay, or other physical intimacy. It works by covering the skin around the anus with an ultra-thin, invisible, and highly flexible protective layer to stop the transmission of the body’s natural skin microbiome (which also includes bacteria such as E.coli) to the urethra and help prevent urinary tract infections. Cyscover® contains no active agents.
No. We cannot promise Cyscover® provides total protection against cystitis any more than cranberry juice, D-mannose or other products can—simply because it’s just not something anyone can guarantee. Our bodies are complex and individual, so understanding them better is the first step in recognising potential issues and remedying them effectively. For the first time, Cyscover® gives you the opportunity to drastically reduce the risk of your body’s own intestinal bacteria spreading to your urethra during sex. Studies show that in up to 90% of bladder infection cases, it’s our own E.coli intestinal bacteria that’s responsible. There is such a short distance between the anus, vagina and urethra that bacteria can easily move from one to the other during sex. That’s why going to the toilet shortly after sex is a tip for preventing UTIs as it allows you to flush out any bacteria that may have entered the urethra before it attaches to the bladder mucosa.
Recent studies show E.coli bacteria that has already entered the urinary tract can hide in the bladder wall and protect themselves with a biofilm. Cyscover® cannot eliminate bacteria that have already migrated to the bladder wall or encourage them to leave. By the way, studies have also shown that often antibiotics can’t do this either. But, even if pesky E.coli bacteria are already lurking in your bladder wall, Cyscover® still supports you. How? When your bladder mucosa (the wall membrane) is irritated, it is even more susceptible to bacterial invaders such as E.coli. You can’t eliminate the bacteria that’s already hiding there, but you can prevent more bacteria entering your urethra and therefore significantly reduce the impact of another infection. Doing this protects you from additional danger, relieves your immune system, and helps you focus on simply enjoying yourself. Give it a try and feel free to share your experiences with us!
