Millions of women worldwide
In up to 90 % of cases E.coli intestinal bacteria are the trigger
Escherichia coli (E.coli) are a natural component of the intestinal microbiome and play an important role in gut health. However, if they enter urethra and bladder, they can cause pain and inflammation.
The
female
anatomy
doesn’t help us here. Urethra, vagina and anus are very close to each other so that intestinal and vaginal bacteria can enter the urethra easily. With a length of only 4 cm, the urethra is also significantly shorter than in men, meaning that bacteria can reach the bladder more quickly.
Risk factor Sex
Whatever your sexual preference, during intercourse, friction meets body fluids and intestinal bacteria can pass quickly from the anal region into the vagina or even the urethra. In addition, urethra and vagina are often irritated by friction, which makes it even easier for pathogens, such as E.coli, to invade.
Biofilm & urothelium
But wait, there’s more! Our bodies are complex. Once E.coli bacteria have entered the urethra, they can form a dense biofilm that makes the access for immune cells and antibiotics difficult. The bacteria can migrate to the lining of the urinary tract (urothelium), hide and persist there until they are released and the infection cycle begins again.
Gardnerella vagi-whaaat?
Gardnerella vaginalis is a germ that colonizes the vagina in many women. If it makes its way into the bladder, it attacks the top layer of the urothelium, causing „hidden“ E.coli bacteria to be released again. Thus, vaginal bacteria can cause a bladder infection to flare up indirectly.
ANTI
biotics
Second most common reason for antibiotic prescriptions? Bingo! Bladder infections. In Germany alone, there’s at least 6.3 million per year. However, new findings show that taking antibiotics is often counterproductive, because E.coli bacteria in biofilm and urothelium can survive antibiotics in significantly higher concentrations (up to 1,500 times higher). Thus, they are often not reached at all. Instead, antibiotics damage the uro- and intestinal microbiome, which is important for healthy immune function. Biofilm formation is promoted and antibiotic resistance continues to increase.
Welcome to the vicious circle!

FAQ
Cyscover® is a globally novel approach in the field of intimate care. Not indirectly beforehand. Not medicated afterwards.
For the first time, Cyscover® pursues a physical approach designed for use directly during sex, fundamentally setting itself apart from existing solutions on the market.
The ultra-thin, transparent cover was developed from personal experience and internationally patented in 2020. Developed by a woman — for women.
Without any chemical active ingredients, purely through its physical barrier. Cyscover® is simply applied as an ultra-thin, transparent and highly flexible cover to the perineal and anal area before sex, foreplay or similar intimacy. The natural microbiome of the skin area is temporarily covered.
No. We cannot give you that 100% promise any more than cranberry juice, D-mannose, vaccines or other products can. Simply honest and transparent — because that promise does not exist. The human body is a complex and highly individual system that first needs to be understood in order to recognize and better respond to possible challenges.
With Cyscover®, you have, for the first time, the possibility to physically, gently and easily cover the skin area between anus and vagina directly during sex. As shown repeatedly in studies, a woman’s own E.coli gut bacteria are associated with up to 90% of urinary tract infections. Due to the short anatomical distances, these bacteria can easily move during sex from the anal area across the vaginal region towards the urethra.
The common advice to urinate shortly after sex is based on the idea that bacteria which may have already entered the urethra could potentially still be flushed out before attaching themselves to the mucous membranes.
Recent studies suggest that already migrated E.coli bacteria may hide within the bladder wall and protect themselves through a biofilm.
Cyscover® cannot eliminate bacteria that have already migrated or ask them politely to leave again. Fair play. Interestingly, studies found that even antibiotics are often unable to fully do so.
Still, you may know the desire to approach your body more consciously and gently, especially during sensitive phases. That is exactly where Cyscover® comes in: with its purely physical approach as an intimate care cover. Ultra-thin, flexible and without chemical active ingredients.
Many women report that Cyscover® helps them feel more relaxed and at ease again during intimate moments.
A once quietly desperate but deeply curious woman in her mid-30s who no longer wanted to settle for the existing options on the market and, out of personal necessity, decided to invent a product herself.
Researched, developed, designed, optimized and ultimately successfully filed for international patent protection in 2020, she now wants to share this new possibility with the women experiencing the very same struggle. And one thing is certain: there are far too many of us.
